Police officers and armed forces specialists carry certain equipment on their persons all the time, so that they are prepared for any situation they could face. Of course the very first piece of equipment that comes to mind is a handgun, but authorities and armed forces personnel carry other items they use far more often than their rifles.
For instance, officers also have, among other things, handcuffs, mace, and most importantly, knives such as Benchmade knives. These types of blades have many different uses, and are actually carried on a regular basis not just by those who serve and protect us, but by many every day joes for the same reason - to be ready.
There are a wide variety of knives available for military and police force use, and as you'd imagine, personal use knives come in just as wide a variety. Mel Pardue, Bill McHenry, Mike Snody, Jason Williams, Warren Osborne, and Bob Lum are only a couple of the amazing knife makers they have worked with to develop exclusive edition knives. Several speciality knives have in reality become enthusiasts items among knife collectors.
Right now the Benchmade spring assisted knives company has 3 speciality businesses they are working with to provide unique knife lines - H&K Firearms, Harley Davidson and The Bone Collector. The H&K knives are designed to fit the needs of military, police units and professional shooters, while the Bone Collector knives are built to meet the needs of hunters. The Harley Davidson knife collection was created to meet the needs of various knife users.
A few who have knives know precisely what they desire out of a blade, and have several different knives in their collection for different uses. For example, automatic knifes are often carried for everyday use, because they easily fit in a pocket or purse. Fixed blades are often carried by hunters for use in the field, while rescue workers rely on the convenience of butterfly style knives.
Finding the right knife for your own use depends upon two factors: what you will be utilising it for, and personal preference. To help you decide, many websites, including the Benchmade website, have "knife wizards", which allow you to input information about what you need in a knife. By using this information they show you knives that will work with your needs and preferences. These tools can be helpful in finding the perfect knife for your needs.
